I had my surgery finally! YAY!

Surgery:

I was sick all last weekend and didn't think Doc would go through with my surgery. However, we did. Dr. C (my surgeon) said it went well, the only surprise was that, I had 3 hernias instead of two that they had to repair. Which means I had more mesh put in my abdomen and groin muscle wall.

To be honest I was moving around fine, but I cough a lot. Which means the mesh digs into me and that can hurt if I get into a coughing fit. I had the surgery Tuesday.  Surgeries tend to make my intestines block up ( I know TMI, but I know many CFers deal with this, especially after surgeries). So Wednesday and Thursday were not ideal after surgery, but Andrew and I had a Downton Abbey Marathon. We are hooked. Mom had bought me season 1 for Easter and I got Season 2 from Ada for my Birthday! So even though those days were rough, I still enjoyed them. Luckily, by Friday Night I was starting to feel better, and yesterday I even got to go to Wal-Mart. I know exciting right? lol.

Today, though I'm going to Peoria to lunch and a movie with Andrew and my Uncles. I start back to work this coming weekend too! I got a 2nd job too, yay for saving money again! I need to save quite a bit this summer in order to move to Chicago for School in the Fall.

I'm sooo happy I finally got this done. It may still be awhile before I can carry a tray/serve tables. But at least I'm healing well and will be back to my old self soon. I'd like to start training for the 5K homestead weekend!
I did it last year. I didn't come in quite last. But I'm just happy I finished. I'd like to beat my time this year though. So I need to start soon in the next few weeks or so.

So glad everything had worked out so well.

Today's BIG Appointment

 I discussed last week about my recent struggles & goals. I have been dealing with a lot all at once! Family planning (update on that in 2 weeks), my Grandma's funeral, lower lung function. Through it all I have remained very compliant with my meds! My health is VERY important to me. So this last weekend I took my vest machine, wabi sterilizer system , and packs of ensure to my parent's for the weekend. I wanted to make sure I did everything. While it was a sad occasion, it was still pleasant seeing almost all of the family together again. Actually 27 out of 29 of the cousins made it to the funeral. Grandpa is in the middle of the picture (can you find me?) LOL   On top of my medications I have been doing some dancing & walking, but no jogging or anything. I'm still counting calories on my fitbit (hitting over 3000) a day (& 40 grams of protein, 50 grams of fat at least). I knew I was feeling a bit better than before, but wasn't sure what to expec...

Beginning of the Year Troubles

Normal "beginning of the year" troubles for Andrew and I only really consist of one topic: Our Deductible [please no Obama, or government bashing] I've always had high deductibles ALL MY LIFE (no matter who was president). The problem is I hit my deductible within the first week of January. In the past I have always prepared for this and since I was still on my father's insurance (up until last year) he typically paid the bill (at least for medical stuff). And in the future Andrew & I won't have such an issue with this. We will be able to save and plan ahead for the $3,000 (for my deductible, his is another $3,000). However, this year was more difficult. We saved all 2013-2014 for our wedding & honeymoon, plus had our deductible saved too. But Real Estate was a pricey career to start, I've put almost $5,000 into it (classes, dues, licensing, exam, advertising, etc). So needless to say our deductible disappeared, thanks to my new career. Wh...

My Body Can't Keep Up

I turned 34 in April this year! I love celebrating my birthday each year and seeing more wrinkles and gray hair appear. I LOVE that I am building this beautiful life with my family. I just wish my body could keep up... Being born with cystic fibrosis meant some challenges throughout my life. I never knew when CF would throw me a curve ball. I missed a lot of holidays in the hospital growing up and sometimes my body tells me to stop. The last few months have been more rough for my CF-related Arthritis. And today isn't any different, despite it being Father's Day! Dad & Andrew I had wonderful plans to go home to see my Dad today, then come back home in time to make some dinner for my family when Andrew gets off work around 5 or 6pm tonight. I had a lot of great plans to celebrate my husband and Dad for Father's Day- They deserve it. But, I woke up with frozen/stiff joints and spots all over.
